Year 9 AI Options Workshop

ICT & Computing Department · Led by Imole Ajayi

A hands-on introduction to how AI is shaping the world, built around the 'Intelligent Piece of Paper' activity — pupils played noughts and crosses against a sheet of paper 'programmed' with rules, then unpicked how algorithms simulate intelligence without a screen.

  • 'Intelligent Piece of Paper' algorithm game
  • Text-to-image generation with Craiyon
  • Discussion on AI, language, art and media
  • Certificates for every participant

Using AI to Solve Problems

Live in-class session · Delivered live with the class teacher

A remote-delivered session comparing rule-based and data-driven approaches to problem solving, with pupils working along on laptops while the TechKids AI lead facilitated on screen.

  • Rule-based vs data-driven AI
  • Guided laptop activities
  • Teacher co-delivery model
  • No pupil accounts or personal data used

“Imole guided students through these activities with enthusiasm and clarity, making complex concepts accessible and inspiring curiosity about the possibilities of AI. The workshop left students not only more informed but also more excited about the role they can play in the future of technology.”
